Built upon the pillars of Art and Science is the now and future “religion” we call Design.
Here in the west, where we once lived by faith, we now live on fact. We built our civilization around a narrow set of rules based in obscure beliefs. Once we were bound to the myth of creation. Now we find we are the creators. British anthropologist Edmund Leach said, “Men have become like gods. Isn’t it about time that we understand our divinity?” … but I think Stewart Brand better phrased it in his introduction to the Whole Earth Catalog when he modified this and said, “We are as gods and might as well get good at it.”
